Jeff Tucker
was unanimously elected vice chairman of the Florida Arts
Council, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
Tucker has been a member of the Florida
Arts Council since 2004 and was recently reappointed for a
two-year term by Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio. The
appointment and election were accepted by Florida Secretary of
State Kurt Browning.
Tucker is a former chairman of the Board
of Trustees of the Tampa Museum of Art (2002-2004) and served
as a member of the board for more than a decade. He has also
served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the
Ringling
College
of Art & Design in
Sarasota
,
Fla.
(2000-2004) and he was a member of the National Arts Club in
New York City
in 2004.
The Florida Arts Council is the 15-member
advisory council appointed to advise the Secretary of State
regarding cultural grant funding and on all matters pertaining
to culture in the State of
Florida
.
Appointments to the Florida Arts Council
are determined by the governor, Senate president and House
speaker, in consultation with the secretary of state. The
appointments are based on geographic representation, as well
as demonstrated history of community service in the arts and
culture.
Tucker co-founded Tucker/Hall Inc. in
1990, which has offices in
Tampa
,
Orlando
and
Tallahassee
. He is an accredited crisis communications specialist serving
clients in the areas of corporate reputation management,
business planning and media relations.
Prior to establishing Tucker/Hall, Tucker
spent 20 years as a financial journalist on Wall Street with
The Journal of Commerce and with the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution, Atlanta, Ga. and the Times Publishing
Co. and Florida Trend magazine in St. Petersburg, Fla. Tucker
was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to the corporate advisory
board of the Florida Turnpike Enterprise in 2002.
